The Concerned Christian Youth Forum (CCYF) has announced plans to hold a peaceful protest in Abuja in response to the growing attacks on the Christian faith and its leaders, which they allege are being supported by Omoyele Sowore and his collaborators.
In a statement signed by the convener, James Adama, he explained:
“This protest is being organized to address the increasing disrespect and hostility directed toward Christianity and our religious leaders by Sowore and his associates.”
He continued, “It is deeply troubling that Christianity and Christian leaders are being deliberately targeted, our beliefs and traditions are being disrespected, and our faith is being undermined. These actions are reportedly backed by financial support aimed at provoking religious unrest.”
Adama also used the opportunity to draw attention to the rising levels of violence across Nigeria.
“We are calling on the government to urgently address the alarming increase in killings and bloodshed across the country. This senseless violence must come to an end, and the government must take decisive action.”
The CCYF is calling on all Christian youths in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to participate in the peaceful protest, which is scheduled to take place on May 21 at 10:00 AM, concluding by 2:00 PM. The venue is the Unity Fountain, opposite Transcorp Hilton, Maitama, Abuja.
To ensure broad participation, Adama stated that free buses decorated with CCYF banners will be provided from various locations across the city and all six area councils of the FCT.
