The Concerned Christian Youth Forum (CCYF) has issued a strong statement condemning the ongoing wave of violence and killings in Plateau and Benue States, describing the attacks as a “relentless onslaught” against innocent civilians and a violation of the sanctity of human life.
In a statement signed by its Convener, James Paul Adama, the group expressed deep concern over what it termed a “human carnage” being perpetrated by lawless bandits in the region. The forum called on the Nigerian government to act swiftly and decisively to arrest the growing insecurity and bring perpetrators to justice.
“This relentless onslaught against innocent civilians by lawless bandits is an affront to natural justice and a gross violation of the dignity of human life,” Adama said. “This must stop. All peace-loving people of this nation deserve the safety and security enshrined in our constitution.”
While commending the efforts of Nigeria’s security agencies, the CCYF urged them to intensify their operations and ensure that affected communities are protected and supported in the process of healing and rebuilding.
“To the gallant men and women of our security agencies, we extend our utmost gratitude. Your tireless dedication in the face of adversity is an inspiration,” the statement read. “Yet, more must be done. The safety and well-being of our people must be guaranteed at all times.”
Adama further emphasized that the continued attacks not only threaten local communities but also pose a serious risk to the nation’s unity and stability. He called on all Nigerians to summon the strength and courage needed to confront and end the crisis.
“The time for action is now,” he declared. “Together, we must ensure that the lives of our fellow citizens are no longer at the mercy of violence.”
