The former Member representing Yala 1 State Constituency of Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Mrs. Regina Anyogo has bagged a Doctor of Philosophy, Ph.D, in Rehabilitation Counseling, Department of Guidance and Counseling University of Calabar, Calabar ( UNICAL) during the 37th Convocation Ceremony of the university.

The event which was held on 22nd Match, 2025, at the UNICAL Convocation Square celebrated the academic achievements of numerous graduates while highlighting the remarkable contributions of distinguished individuals like Rt. Hon. Mrs Anyogo.

The former Lawmaker’s academic journey has been that of excellence marked by her dedication to reach the peak of her academic qualifications.

The convocation ceremony also honored eminent Nigerian leaders with Honorary Doctorate Degree as part of the University of Calabar (UNICAL), 50th anniversary and 37th Convocation Ceremony. The notable honourees includes Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu, who delivered the guest lecture, the wife of the Senate President, Her Excellency, Mrs. Uloma Godwin Akpabio, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike – CON, GSSRS and Dr. Betta Edu, former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and National Woman Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Family, political associates, and friends gathered to celebrate the Amazon’s significant milestone, recognizing her unwavering commitment to public service and community development.


Among dignitaries who came to identify with Rt. Hon. Mrs. Anyogo are; Cross River State APC State Chairman, Barr. Alphonsus Ogar Eba, Commissioner for Education Cross River State, Sen. Her husband, Barr. Leonard Anyogo described the Doctorate Degree by his wife as a huge academic milestone and the beginning of greater success for the family. “This achievement is a testament to her resilience and dedication to making a difference in her society”, he added.
