In a significant move to bolster public awareness on the role and services of the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) in Benue State, the General Manager of Agate Radio/Television, Igba Ogbole, has expressed the media organization’s commitment to partnering with the Commission to inform citizens about its free services aimed at addressing grievances concerning maladministration from both public and private entities.
This announcement was made during a visit from the Honourable Federal Commissioner for the Public Complaints Commission in Benue State, Rt. Hon. James Ogaba Oche, to Ogbole’s office on November 29, 2024.
Since taking the helm of the Commission in Benue state on October 2, 2024, Chief Oche has recognized the importance of collaborating with the media and sought to strengthen inter-agency relations. During the visit, he underscored the necessity of enhancing the Commission’s visibility through a robust publicity campaign that would enable citizens throughout Benue State to access its complimentary services. He further advocated for proactive media engagement to hold parties accountable during investigations.
Describing radio as “the people’s voice” for the marginalized, Ogbole expressed his organization’s eagerness to enter into this partnership. He specifically agreed to Oche’s proposal to cover significant case conferences held by the Commission, highlighting Agate Radio’s readiness to support the initiative.
In his remarks, Ogbole congratulated Chief Oche on his well-deserved appointment, expressing admiration for the Commissioner’s proactive approach in leveraging media to amplify visibility for the Commission. He noted this initiative exemplifies Oche’s potential to elevate the Commission to new heights.
Additionally, Ogbole extended an invitation to Hon. Oche to participate in the radio’s conflict resolution program, known as “People’s Parliament,” promoting direct engagement with the community.
Accompanying Hon. Oche during his visit was a robust management team that included Justin-Chuwang N.I. (Director of Investigation), Kpaakpa Terkura, Onyilo Ene Lucy, and Orhemba Akura Charles (Deputy Directors of Investigation), along with Jeje Pretty (Assistant Director of Investigation) and Agbese Echi Gabriel (Principal Information Officer).
