2027: Middle Belt Youth Congress to Decide Presidential Direction by December 5

NV News

The Middle Belt Youth Congress has declared that it will independently determine the region’s political direction ahead of the 2027 presidential election, insisting that no region or external organization will dictate its choice of candidate.

The President of the Congress, Obande Gideon, made this known in a statement, stressing that the era of using the Middle Belt as a political tool or stooge for the interests of other regions was over.

According to him, the Congress will announce its position on the 2027 presidential election by the first week of December, following a decision-making process guided by the interests, aspirations, and expected benefits of the Middle Belt region.

Gideon maintained that the region was prepared to take its political destiny into its own hands, emphasizing that its eventual decision would be based on what best serves the collective interests and development of its people.

He described the 2027 general election as an important opportunity to redefine Nigeria’s political future, rescue the country from persistent political manipulation, and reinforce the principle that no single region should monopolize the political destiny of the nation.

The Middle Belt Youth Congress President also highlighted what he described as significant gains recorded by the region under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He cited the emergence of prominent individuals from the region into strategic national positions, including the National Chairman of the ruling party, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Army Staff, and the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), among others.

He noted that these appointments and representations were important considerations in assessing the region’s political interests and determining its next course of action.

Gideon further disclosed that the Congress would convene a major gathering on December 5 to deliberate on the region’s political future and collectively chart a new direction ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
