The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Works, Senator Allwell Onyesoh, (Rivers East) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to infrastructure renewal and national development following the official flag-off of the GombeβBiu Road Dualization Project in Gombe State.
Senator Onyesoh, who led a delegation of the Senate Committee on Works to Gombe over the week, was accompanied by members of the House of Representatives Committee on Works, led by its Chairman, Hon. Akin Alabi. As well as Senator Nwebonyi Peter who represents the Senate leadership among other government officials.
The 125-kilometre dual carriageway project is one of the Federal Governmentβs strategic legacy infrastructure projects designed to improve connectivity, enhance security, stimulate economic growth, and open up communities across the Northeast region.
Speaking at the event, Senator Onyesoh described the project as a clear demonstration of President Tinubuβs resolve to address long-standing infrastructure deficits and unlock the vast economic potential of the region.
He noted that the dualization of the GombeβBiu corridor would significantly improve transportation, facilitate agricultural and commercial activities, and strengthen regional integration among communities in Gombe, Borno, Adamawa, Bauchi, and neighbouring states.
The Senate Committee Chairman also applauded the Honourable Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, for his dedication, innovation, and commitment to delivering quality infrastructure across the country.

Senator Onyesoh emphasized that the National Assembly remains committed to providing the necessary legislative support and oversight required to ensure the successful execution of critical infrastructure projects across the country.
He also called on citizens to continue supporting the administrationβs development initiatives, stressing that sustained investment in infrastructure remains essential to economic growth, job creation, and national prosperity.
According to him, the GombeβBiu Road Dualization Project represents more than a road construction initiative; it is a transformative investment that will reconnect communities, improve security, facilitate trade, boost agricultural production, and create new economic opportunities for millions of Nigerians.
The project is expected to commence fully within the coming weeks, with contractors mobilising to site for immediate execution.
