Led by its Federal Commissioner, James Oche, the Public Complaints Commission in Benue State organized a befitting sent-forth ceremony in honor of its dedicated staff member, Mrs. Mercy Shagba, as she retired from service.
Leading the encomium on behalf of the Chief Commissioner, Hon. Bashir Abubakar, Mr. Oche praised the celebrant’s exceptional service, dedication, and commitment to the commission’s mission in 35 years of distinguished and exemplary service.
The event, which took place at the commission’s office in Makurdi on November 19, 2024, was attended by the celebrant’s supportive husband, Mr. David I. Shagba who is the immediate past National Secretary of the Commission, along with colleagues and family members who gathered to celebrate Mrs. Shagba’s remarkable career and contributions as the Head of Finance and Accounts for the Benue State Office.
In his speech, the former National Secretary of the Commission, Mr. David Shagba expressed his gratitude to God for the privilege of witnessing his beloved wife’s retirement. He noted that the journey through civil service is not easy but remained thankful to God for her successful career.
Earlier, the Deputy Director of Investigation, Mr. Terkura Kpaakpa, appreciated the management and staff of the Commission for pooling their resources together in light of current economic realities to celebrate their retiring colleague. He commended the Honourable Federal Commissioner for ensuring the event’s success.
In his opening speech, Mr. Orhemba Charles Akura, the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee and Head of the Publicity and Public Enlightenment Unit, welcomed all the staff and guests to the event. He lauded the celebrant for her commitment to work while in service and encouraged others to emulate her dedication.
In her vote of thanks, the honoree, Chief Executive Officer (Accounts) Mrs. Shagba, expressed her heartfelt appreciation to the management and staff of the Commission for honoring her. She thanked her dear husband for his unwavering support throughout her career and specifically thanked God for His divine protection during her years of service. She prayed for the success of those who continue in service.
The highlights of the occasion included the reading of the celebrant’s citation, the presentation of gifts, and photographs.
