The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has issued a strong warning to the public about a fraudulent scheme targeting applicants of its Postgraduate Foreign Scholarship Programme.
In an official statement released on Sunday, the Commission disclaimed any affiliation with a fake email address — nddcregistry@gmail.com — which has been sending messages under the guise of the NDDC’s ‘Board Registry.’ The fraudulent messages invite unsuspecting individuals to a so-called “document verification and authentication exercise” scheduled for May 19–21, 2025, at 30 Bishop Oluwole Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The NDDC emphasized that it has no involvement in this activity and described it as a scam aimed at defrauding members of the public. “All official communications regarding the scholarship programme are made solely through the NDDC’s official portal at www.scholarship.nddc.gov.ng,” the statement read.
Applicants have been urged to ignore any unsolicited requests involving money, personal information, or offers of scholarship placement outside the Commission’s recognized procedures. The NDDC further advised recipients of such messages to report them to the appropriate authorities to help combat fraud and protect public trust.
For accurate information or to make legitimate inquiries about the scholarship programme, the Commission encouraged individuals to visit www.nddc.gov.ng or use its official communication channels.
The statement, signed by Seledi Thompson-Wakama, Director of Corporate Affairs, reiterated the Commission’s commitment to transparency and the safety of all programme applicants.
