The Founder of Habila Life and Mentorship Foundation (HLMF), Mr. Dussah Bala, has called on the government to implement stronger regulatory frameworks for orphanage homes across the country.
He made this appeal during a visit to the Jesus Kids with Special Needs (J.K.S) Orphanage Home in Kubwa, Abuja, where he celebrated his birthday with the children.
Mr. Bala emphasized that with appropriate laws and consistent government grants, orphanage homes could be better equipped to raise children who will positively contribute to society.
He also pledged continued support for the government and commended President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly its focus on child welfare.
According to him, HLMF remains committed to supporting vulnerable populations, including incarcerated and sick individuals, orphans, and widows across Nigeria.
“Humanitarian service is the primary duty given to man by God. It’s always important to show love and care to those in need,” he stated.

He also expressed gratitude to organizations that partnered with HLMF for the event.
“I want to appreciate the Alice Wanny Development Foundation, Ajebota Foundation for Disadvantaged Children, Book Club with Love, and Lead Joe 1808 Foundation for their contributions in making this day a success,” he said.
Mr. Bala also urged the government to prioritize the welfare and security of its citizens. “Nigerians must begin to ask what they can do for their country, not just what the country can do for them.”
In his remarks, Mazi Ike Chinedo, Country Director of Lead Joe 1808 Foundation, advised parents to avoid harmful substances during pregnancy, as these can result in children being born with special needs.

“Children are gifts from God. Regardless of the circumstances, do not discard your children. Plan before bringing them into the world,” he advised.
He also called for a culture of love and compassion, saying, “Let us continue to preach and practice love toward one another.”
Speaking at the event, the Director of J.K.S Orphanage Home, Mrs. Nifemi Ajideye, expressed gratitude to HLMF, Lead Joe 1808 Foundation, and other NGOs that supported the initiative.
“I thank you all for coming and for the generous gifts and food you presented to the children at J.K.S Orphanage Home,” she said.
She further appealed to the government and NGOs to provide ongoing support, stressing the pressing needs of the home.
Represented by the orphanage’s administrator, Ms. Victoria Adams, she highlighted the home’s greatest challenges as financial constraints and a lack of consumables.
“We need financial and material support, as well as adequate transportation—especially school buses—to ensure the children can attend school regularly,” she added.
