The First Lady of Edo State, through her office, has thrown her full support behind Project RISE — Resisting Initiation, Securing Education — an initiative aimed at tackling cultism and promoting safe learning environments among youths in the state.
The endorsement was announced by Mrs. Edesi Okpebholo Anani, Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, during a meeting with the Senior Special Assistant to the Edo State Government on Special Duties, Mr. Uriesi Aarebamen Alex in Benin City, who is spearheading the campaign.
Mrs. Anani commended Mr Uriesi for the initiative, describing it as a timely and strategic intervention to safeguard the future of Edo youth. She praised his efforts in positively projecting Edo State across the country and internationally.
“I’m supporting Project RISE and giving it my maximum support,” she said. “I commend Mr Uriesi on this project and the good work he is doing around the state — showcasing Edo to the world, empowering our youth, and making the state proud.”
She added that the Office of the First Lady is fully aligned with the project’s goals and committed to partnering with its implementers to push forward its mandate.
“Making Edo State safe and beyond — count on us for any kind of support you need,” Mrs. Anani assured.
Project RISE focuses on combating the rising threat of cult-related activities in schools and communities by promoting education, mentorship, and alternative pathways to success for young people. The program is part of a broader effort to improve youth safety, reduce violence, and encourage academic excellence across Edo State.
With the endorsement from the First Lady’s office, stakeholders are optimistic that the initiative will receive greater institutional backing and community involvement.
