The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has praised philanthropist Queen Halimat Adenike Tejuosho for her sustained humanitarian efforts, particularly her advocacy and support for persons with disabilities across Nigeria.
Tejuosho was awarded an honorary doctorate in Transformational Leadership, Social Work, and Community Service at a colourful ceremony held at the Nigerian National Merit House in Abuja. The award was conferred by the Institute of Leadership Manpower and Management during its 29th Leadership Manpower Award Celebration.
According to the organisers, the honour recognises her exceptional contributions to community development, social justice advocacy, and the empowerment of vulnerable groups.
Speaking at the event, Olawande commended Tejuosho’s dedication to improving the lives of underserved communities, noting that her initiatives complement the Federal Government’s agenda for inclusive growth. He described her as a model of impactful private-sector leadership driving sustainable social change.
In her acceptance speech, Tejuosho underscored the importance of listening, patience, and mentorship in effective leadership. She referenced Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a leader whose mentorship and style have inspired many, encouraging emerging leaders to prioritise mentoring others. She noted that mentorship has been instrumental in shaping her personal and professional journey.

Through her QAT Foundation, Tejuosho has spearheaded initiatives such as scholarships for indigent students, vocational training programmes for women and youths, and the distribution of assistive devices to persons with disabilities. These efforts, she said, have expanded access to opportunities and improved livelihoods for beneficiaries nationwide.
The ceremony attracted dignitaries from various sectors, with Minister Olawande also receiving recognition at the event.
Observers say the honour reflects increasing recognition of philanthropic leadership in Nigeria and highlights the need for stronger collaboration between government and private actors to accelerate national development.
