Dr. Hadiza Yaro, former Nigeria Country Manager of East-West Seed, has recently joined Sakata Seeds Nigeria–West Africa Office.
In her new role as Sales Manager for Nigeria and Anglo-West Africa, Dr. Yaro will be responsible for servicing existing customers across English-speaking countries in West Africa, including Togo and Benin Republic. She will also be tasked with building new partnerships and expanding the company’s network across the continent.
Dr. Yaro holds a PhD in Agronomy and has furthered her expertise in Marketing and Food Security through academic and professional engagements in Africa, Europe, and Asia. In a press release signed by Vicente Celada, Sakata’s West Africa Director, he noted: “I’m absolutely certain Hadiza will be a great addition to Sakata’s projects in West Africa.”
For more than a decade, Dr. Yaro has distinguished herself as a thought leader, practitioner, and policy expert in agribusiness. During her tenure at East-West Seed, she played a central role in expanding the company’s operations in Nigeria. She has also been a consistent advocate for smallholder farmers in Northern Nigeria, presenting numerous papers on their contribution to food security and national self-sufficiency.
She organized several agribusiness fairs and expos that underscored the importance of seed quality in achieving higher yields—initiatives that attracted media attention and demonstrated the impact of improved farming practices. Her work also extended to collaborating with state governments and ministries of agriculture to design programs that empowered smallholder farmers and increased local agricultural production.
Born in Zuru, Kebbi State, Dr. Yaro is widely respected as an agronomist and agribusiness development expert. Expectations are high that she will replicate her past successes and bring renewed innovation to Sakata Seeds’ operations in the region.
