The Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties to the Edo State Governor, Mr. Alex Uriesi Aarebamen, on Friday paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Abuja, where he was received by the Deputy Inspector General of Police, incharge of training and development, DIG Frank Mba.

The visit was aimed at officially introducing Project RISE—Resist Initiation, Secure Education to the Nigeria Police Force and seeking institutional support, collaboration, and partnership in tackling youth-related social vices in Edo State.

Describing the meeting as a “fruitful and encouraging engagement,” Mr. Uriesi highlighted the shared commitment of the Edo State Government and the Nigeria Police to curbing cultism, drug abuse, and other social ills affecting Nigerian youth. He noted that DIG Mba expressed strong support for the initiative, commending it as a proactive measure to steer young people away from crime and anti-social behavior.

“DIG Mba gave his full support and blessings for Project RISE,” Mr. Uriesi said. “He described it as a laudable initiative—anything that helps save our youth from social vices like cultism is highly welcomed. He also commended the Edo State Government for its ongoing efforts to improve the lives of its people and praised Governor Monday Okpebholo for positioning Edo State on a strong developmental path.”

DIG Mba also reaffirmed the readiness of the Nigeria Police Force to collaborate with initiatives that promote education, positive youth engagement, and safer communities.

Project RISE is designed to offer educational alternatives, mentorship opportunities, and advocacy support for at-risk youth, especially in communities susceptible to criminal influence. It forms a critical part of the Edo State Government’s broader strategy to build a safer and more productive environment for young people.

Mr. Uriesi expressed optimism that with the support of the Nigeria Police and other key stakeholders, Project RISE will achieve lasting impact.

“This is only the beginning,” he stated. “With strong partnerships like this, we can build a future where our youth are empowered, educated, and free from the grip of crime and violence.”
