The National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) has trained Adamawa indigenes on innovative technological skills for evaluating and preserving agricultural produce to enhance food safety in the Adamawa Central Senatorial District.
The Director-General of NBTI, Dr. Patricia Chukwu, disclosed this during the closing ceremony of a three-day training program themed:Ā āTechnology Skills Transfer on Innovation Technologies for Evaluation and Preservation of Agro Produce to Enhance Food Safety in Adamawa.ā
Dr. Chukwu, who was represented by the Center Manager, Alhaji Salihu Babayi, explained that the program aims to foster enterprise development by commercializing and upgrading local technologies, thereby creating jobs and alleviating poverty in the country.

Babayi noted that the training was jointly organized by NBTI in collaboration with Makplan Global Investment Limited and facilitated by Senator Aminu Abbas, who represents the Adamawa Central Senatorial District.
āIt may interest you to know that NBTI is a parastatal under the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology. It is responsible for establishing and managing Technology Incubation Centres (TICs) and Parks while ensuring the commercialization of research and development results from research establishments and innovation efforts,ā Babayi said. āThese centers are spread across the 36 states of the federation and beyond.ā

He added, āThe main aim of this program is to teach Adamawa indigenes how to process agricultural produce to enhance food security in the Central Senatorial District. This training is designed to improve participantsā capacity and equip them with skills to handle agricultural products, reduce post-harvest losses, and enhance food preservation, aligning with the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu and the core objectives of NBTI.ā
According to Dr. Chukwu, NBTI remains committed to its mandate of advancing Nigeriaās innovative entrepreneurship and industrialization efforts. āOver the years, we have consistently trained staff, entrepreneurs, youths, and women in innovative skills, producing thousands of innovative products,ā she said.

Senator Aminu Abbas, the facilitator and representative of Adamawa Central, also spoke at the event, reaffirming his dedication to empowering his constituents. He emphasized that imparting knowledge on agricultural biotechnology and innovative food preservation and processing methods will enhance food security, create jobs, and alleviate poverty in Adamawa and beyond.
Represented by Dr. Adamu Babikkoi, Special Adviser to the Adamawa State Governor, Senator Abbas assured participants of the transformative impact of the training. āThis program will empower you to become self-sufficient and contribute meaningfully to Adamawaās agricultural economy. I am confident you have gained technical skills in modern farming and practical knowledge of biotechnology, food preservation, and processing to ensure food security in the district, state, and country.ā
