Mrs. Anjor Obande made this advocacy during an outreach organised by JorJor Mother and Child Foundationon on Saturday in Mpape, FCT.
JorJor Mother and Child Foundation is a Non Governmental Organisation that aims at sustaining life, building healthier communities by giving our most vulnerable families a chance, providing mother and child with basic necessities.
According to her, the current economic situation is making it very difficult for families, individuals to afford food and other basic necessities for their family.
Founder, JorJor Mother and Child Foundation, Engr Mrs Anjor Obande(M); Guest Speaker/Founder, Olean Care Aid Foundation (OCAF), Mrs Oge Ezenyimulu-Nwagu(3rd, L), with some beneficiaries during the foundation’s humanitarian outreach in Mpape Community, Abuja.
“The economic hardship is really biting deep; a lot of parents cannot even provide a meal for their children and that’s why we are here; to bring that aid to a lot of families as much as we can; that’s the essence of today’s programme.
“We thought of reaching out to as many as possible. So, that’s why we started with the Mpape community; we are going to be visiting as many states in Nigeria to ensure that we do our own part.
“Today, we gave out bags of rice to over 100 families, and then we also gave out cartons of indomie and spaghetti, packs of maggi and tomato paste; we also gave out cash to the people that came, passersby were not left out.
“At least, a bag of rice each is enough to reach out to at least a family of four, five or six for sometime so they are sure of having rice in their homes at least
“We will continue to help people as long as we have life, and as long as we have people supporting us too. Whatever we have, we always give it out. It’s a foundation, so it’s not a one off thing,” she said.
Comrade Ismaila Abdullahi, Chairman of Mpape Berger Quarry Community in Abuja, said he was impressed that JorJor Mother and Child Foundation came to share food items in his community.
“They gave each person a bag of rice; more than 100 people benefitted from the bags of rice they shared; they even gave us money. And for some late comers that were not able to get the rice, they given cash, so we’re very happy.
“I want to seize this opportunity to beg meaning Nigerians to, please, try to emulate this foundation; people are really suffering because there is hunger in the land”
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Franca Odu, a mother of two, said she was so happy to benefit from the kind gesture.
“I should be proud to say that this is the first time I am collecting this kind of things; I have been living here for 17 years; I pay revenue and other things; I’ve not met good persons like this that come, not minding the religion, not minding the tribe.
” She came, saw women, widows, ageing mothers, less privileged and decided to help us out of her good heart.
“She brought bags of rice, packs of spaghetti and noodles. There are maggi, tomatoes and other things. And we also collected sanitary pads as well.
“She gave the numbers that she planned for, but more people came. She went to her car, brought out a bunch of money and gave it to those that did not partake in the items, just to make everyone happy”
“May God continue to bless her; wherever she gets this money that she used to buy all these items to come and reach out to us, may God replenish her pockets and more promotion will be her portion in the name of Jesus,” she prayed.
