The Northern Senators Forum has expressed deep condolences to the people and government of Borno State following the tragic collapse of the Alau Dam, which resulted in significant loss of lives and property. In a statement signed by the Forum’s Chairman, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, heartfelt sympathies were extended to the families of the victims and those displaced by the devastating flood.
The Forum praised Vice President Kashim Shettima for his prompt visit to the affected area, acknowledging his leadership in assessing the situation and providing immediate government support. Senator Yar’Adua noted that the Vice President’s swift response reflected the administration’s dedication to aiding affected communities during such crises.
Additionally, the Forum commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving N3 billion for each state to address flood and disaster relief. The funds are seen as a crucial step toward alleviating the suffering of citizens impacted by environmental disasters.
