The Managing Director of Jos Electricity Distribution Plc, Engr Abdu Bello Mohammed has charged members of the public and staff of the company to be safety conscious at all times.
According to a statement made available to newsmen on Friday by the Head, Corporate Communications, Dr. Friday Adakole Elijah noted that the Managing Director gave the advice during a safety briefing at the Tudun Wada regional office yesterday to herald the commencement of the newly created region.
Represented by the Head of Safety, Mr Alvinmax Cyprain Yenkwo, the Chief Executive Officer said that it has become imperative for the company to embark on safety education as well as measures to safeguard people’s lives.
According to him, “we must embark on a pragmatic approach to safeguard the lives of our customers and our staff” stressing that “we must do everything humanly possible to prevent accidents on our network “.
He explained that “safety is not only about technical staff or safety officers but a responsibility of everyone if we must achieve zero accidents”.
He therefore called on all staff to endeavour to comprehend the safety pledge and be able to recite them with ease to apply it when necessary.
The Managing Director disclosed that the Management was on an HSE non – compliance Form which would be distributed to staff to enforce violation. He therefore charged staff to be safety conscious.
